I did my first shoot for my bside boys project on Monday afternoon. It was a bit scary but I am so happy with the results, it's motivated me so much. I've started writing up a project plan and I bought lots of stationery (including hot pink suspension files which I'm unusually excited about)... Everything's happening! Should be doing the next shoot on Saturday. I can't be arsed writing much else, sort of concentrating on an actual blog at the moment (www.nadia-louise.blogspot.com).

So yeah.

Tuesdays. Fuckin' Tuesdays.

It's been a pretty crappy start to the week actually. Sunday night I had these bizarre pains in my stomach which lead to me taking yesterday off. I then slept until 7:45am this morning, I start work at 8:00am. I don't know what's wrong with me, I just can't get enough sleep and find it so hard to get motivated to do anything that requires even minimal concentration. Moreso than usual.

I've come to a few decisions since my tantrum after Deep Roots.
I'm going to continue with music photography - I'm way too close to give up now. I'm just going to take it a little slower, not apply for so many gigs a week, not go to gigs just to take photos... stuff like that. I'm also going to only focus on music photography - It was always at the back of my mind that I should be pushing to do weddings, portraits, and take cute photos of babies... But the passion for it simply isn't there. I'm sure it will be eventually, but with gigs it's like I've fallen into the place I'm supposed to be, I've never felt anything close to that in my life and I want to enjoy this feeling for a while... without being distracted or having that guilt because I should be concentrating on other things. I've never been this determined and persistant with anything either. I give up everything that's good for me - relationships, diets, etc... I'm not giving this up. This decision also means I can actually brainstorm and come up with decent ideas for bside boys. I've got a few which are pretty kick ass but I'm going to need to churn out a lot more...

I was contacted by Dallas Frasca's manager over the weekend about the pictures I took of her at Deep Roots, which was really cool. They want to use them on the website/MySpace. AWESOME! Dallas was fuckin' brilliant I must say, she could kick anyone's ass. She did a great cover of Beyonce's Work It Out.

Just thought I'd update with a list of fun things I'm shooting and everything photo-related between now and August, because I'm so excited!!!

Guitar Hero Championships @ The Evelyn last night, bloody difficult to shoot. Bad lighting, all the players were obviously in deep concentration thus there was nothing to work with, and the crowd were quite stubborn when it came to not getting out of my way and insisting on crowding the table where my equipment was sitting with empty glasses and jugs of beer.
Deep Roots Festival @ The Espy tomorrow night - TZU, The Red Eyes, Mia Dyson + Heaps more... REALLY looking forward to this one!!! Shooting for FasterLouder ... am beginning to think they like me!
My very first b-side boys shoot on Saturday with the lovely young Blake... I'm quite nervous about it. I'm very nervous actually, but his amazing eyes should compensate for crap photos :P nah it should go okay.
Spod @ The Old Bar 31/05/2008 - due to his ridiculous lack of shows in Melbourne I still haven't introduced Mr Nikon to a Spod show, it should be interesting. Plus he's fucking awesome and I can't wait to see him again after so long!
Zombie Shuffle - a sort of "protest" being held in the city where everyone dresses up like a zombie and wanders around Melbourne chanting "What do we want? Brains! When do we want them? Brains!" - it should be hilarious and make for some interesting photos.
Shihad @ The Hifi Bar 14/06/2008 - I don't have a pass for this but the Hifi is piss easy to shoot at. Will hopefully get better shots than I did when they played at The Corner Hotel.
My wonderful writer friend Beth is interviewing me about b-side boys in a few weeks, possibly for the magazine Frankie... we'll see!
Grinspoon @ The Hifi Bar 26/06/2008 - managed to get a pass for this one. I don't like their new stuff very much but I think it'll be cool to see them again after so long. I can't even remember seeing them, I just know I did because I went to a Big Day Out they played at and I was a fan then.
And the last thing in my diary.... is the almighty..... Splendour in the Grass. I didn't get a pass but I did get a free weekend ticket and will be taking my old Fujifilm camera so I should still get some semi-decent photos, at least of the crowd and the antics.

I'm sure lots of things will come up between now and Splendour. My portfolio is just getting bigger and bigger! The desire to make money from it still hasn't hit either, I'm in it for the luuuurve. For now.

Oh I am so god damn tired. I was up at 5am for work yesterday, then was at the Guitar Hero gig all night and didn't get to bed until 1:30am. I've been having way too many late nights, argh, getting old...
I'm not exactly going to get time to rest this weekend, if I do find some spare time I'll be doing housework :( Damn housewife duties!

Anyway I best get back to these invoices... wheeeeyyyyy...

Today sucked a bit.
I was up at 5:00am, at my desk at work at 6:40am, finally got my computer working at 8:10am (yet they won't upgrade) and wanted to smash faces shortly after.
After work I went clothes shopping. Enough said.
Tomorrow is Tuesday. Tuesdays are always worse than Mondays, in my experience. Although Australia's Next Top Model will be on and I do love that show!

I can't believe I forgot how much Placebo mean to me.

So I never update this thing... I really miss it. I was using blogspot but I like being able to keep up with other people's lives... Mainly Amanda, Sarah & Liz. Actually, only Amanda Sarah & Liz :P You guys are good little livejournalers!

I don't really know where to start.
I got married. It was a beautiful day, although quite hot and ~~a few~~ many things went wrong. But I'm now Nadia Wright and that's what I was going for :P
I shot the V Festival... It was amazing. I still can't really believe I was that close to Billy Corgan.

I borrowed a friend's Nikon D300 for the day, along with his $3000 telephoto lens, god it was heaven. I didn't really get to enjoy the bands much but Queens of the Stone Age and Duran Duran were my highlights - soley because they were so much fun to shoot.

I was let into the photo pit at the Hot Hot Heat & Modest Mouse gig (what a combination) which was so exciting, I love nice bouncers!!! A few friends were upstairs watching and I nearly got killed by a flying mic stand kicked by HHH, then apparently I was showered in Isaac Brock's spit when I was getting photos of him. hehehe. Gross. Such good times though. It had been so long since I'd been to a stand-out show.
Hmmm what else has happened..
A boy I went to school with committed suicide and I had a bit of a break down. That was pretty horrible and I don't know that I've really dealt with all the new feelings...
I turned 23 - Tim took me to the zoo for the day, so much fun.
I've started a project called bside boys, which is pretty cool. It's basically going to be a heap of photos of yummy boys who don't have that "traditional" beauty, ie fake tans, six packs, yuck yuck yuck. My first shoot is on Saturday, I'm pretty excited.

It'll be amazing. I'm going with a girl I met when I was at Falls in Tassie, a gal I went to school with, and my writer friend Beth, and their boyfriends/brothers. Tim isn't able to come which sucks, but I'll still have plenty of fun drinking my head off and seeing COLD WAR KIDS!
Last night I shot bluejuice & the paper scissors. I've been feeling like my photos suck and I've been fluking my way through, but I'm really pleased with last night's work!

Most of my proper photo pass jobs have been through FasterLouder. I need to learn how to take better crowd shots, as they want 1/4 - 1/3 of the shots to be of the crowd, argh. I really don't have the knack :(

Anyways this is getting long.

I might try to update this more frequently. The chemicals in my brain just don't want to balance. So this may help.

This is the song I listened to over and over after Robert's funeral. It will always remind me of those haunting feelings, trying to come to terms that Robert was now in a box, ready to be put six feet under. It reminds me of how badly I wanted Chris to cry. He looked so normal. Carrying his friend's casket to his grave, he looked so calm. I just wanted to grab him and hold him and beg him to let it all out. But he had it so together. I guess I wanted him to cry so I could justify feeling so upset, given that I didn't know Robert nearly as well as Chris did. Anyway, the point is, don't listen to songs you love at terrible, terrible moments of your life. You'll never hear them the same way.

It's rare that the death of a celebrity really effects me.
But the news that Heath Ledger was found dead stopped me in my tracks.

You expect to hear a lot of celebrities have died - the hundreds of them openly toying with their lives... the Lindsay Lohans of the world. But not Heath.

Through all the sadness I'm finding myself very pissed off about two things...

1. The media. I'm disgusted... Heath's family found out from the RADIO. Imagine it. You get in your car to go to work at 7:30 on a Wednesday morning, ready for another typical day... car starts, radio comes on. And hear your son has been found DEAD. The world errupts with headlines and photos, your son's face is everywhere next to the word DEAD. How the fuck did they not take a 30 minute time out to inform his family? AND, the rumours! Oh my god. Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment? One minute he was in bed, the next minute he was face down on the floor, naked. The pills were strewn in madness, all over his room - then they were neatly in bottles. First he was a sex-crazed coke-junkie, then he was an honest, grounded family man. GET THE FACTS, THEN REPORT. Oh, and talk about stating the obvious. "Ex-fiance Michelle Williams is distraught." .... just because they broke up, is she meant to shrug it off? Hello? FATHER OF HER CHILD. Idiots! I can't handle another news report on the subject. I'm tuning out until they actually know things about it.

2. The "fans". Or should I say, the newfound fans. Suddenly every woman in the universe has gone "omgz, the guy frum 10 things i hate about yooouuuu? NoooooOOOO!!!!" and take a sudden interest in seeing Two Hands, The Dark Knight and more significantly, Brokeback Mountain. These would have been the same morons going "Gross, I'm not seeing some movie about faggots!". I know it's always going to happen but for fuck's sake, appreciate people while they are ALIVE. I can see it now, when Britney finally goes too far and puts herself underground, the people who are now saying she's a disgrace, will gush at how strong she was for going through sooooo much.

Through all my anger at the morons of this world, I do feel incredibly sad about it. It's strange when it's a celebrity, you feel like you knew them in some strange way. I almost feel like it hasn't entirely hit me... It's strange.
