Borders Carlton are taking the initiative and are running a craft fair tomorrow night, yep, you read right, a craft fair.

There are a collection of lovely designers ranging from pillows to lovely brooches and everything inbetween. It is part of a new Borders initiative to bring communities into their store.

So come along and check out what will be on display, you might even find some Christmas gifts there!

Greenday ticket for sale (very reluctantly)

  • Dec. 6th, 2009 at 11:53 PM
Hey y'all,

Work has recently decided to do me a great disservice and force me out into the middle of regional Victoria when I'm supposed to be attending the Greenday concert (even though I've had this ticket since May or something crazy like that).

December 14th 2009
1 ticket, General admission
$100 (not looking to make any profit, clearly, just recouping my losses, less the booking fees etc).

Drop me a comment if you're interested :3 Cheers~

so here's my situation: i'm from the states, i hafta leave australia early february, and i'm desperate to save as much money as i can this final stretch in oz so i can keep exploring other parts of the world rather than trudge straight back to america.

more about me: i'm 25. i'm female. i'm laid back, flexible, open-minded, easy to get along with, reliable. aware of other peoples' space. coffee fiend. cinephile. dishwashing specialist. storyteller. music head. queerdo.

sooo got a miraculously cheap room temporarily for rent? ($100 or less?) or maybe you wanna do some sort of trade where i can be housekeeper for discount on rent? i love animals and am happy to look after pets as well. got a spot in your backyard where i can pitch a tent for cheap? i'm up for all sorts of suggestions. just putting myself out there and seeing what happens.

i'm looking for a place starting mid-december, but move-in move-out dates are fairly flexible.

if you or someone you know can help me out, please contact me! cheers, angie

Me again.

So, it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm looking to do something fun with a couple of friends. It's just gonna be a small group, and I'm hoping to spend about $50. Personally, I'm willing to go a little higher, but I just think it might be too much of a strain on my friends if it cost too much. I was hoping to do something like the night tour of the Old Melbourne Gaol, but unfortunately I just went on ticketek and found it's not available until the 14th. :( Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do instead? I was thinking it would be fun to go to Dracula's, as I've never been, but like I said, money poses a bit of a limitation.

Does anyone know of any instructors who can teach beginners the art of playing electronic keyboard? My Google-fu found a few results but for one reason or another, none of them were particularly suitable, so I decided to try here. Zone 2 would be a plus, but willing to travel to Zone 1 so long as it's not a particularly obscure area. Thanks!

lol metro suk!

  • Dec. 5th, 2009 at 3:42 PM
Metro Trains is led by Hong Kong operator MTR, recognised as one of the world's best railways, moving almost 4 million passengers a day with a staggering 99 per cent of trains on time.

This week, however, MTR has found out how hard it is to move just 600,000 passengers in a day in Melbourne. On day one, there were 20 cancellations. On Tuesday, a major short-out shut down the Glen Waverley line for almost four hours, stranding thousands of workers on their morning commute.

It was not the start Premier John Brumby had been looking for, especially after promising, back in September, that "passengers [would] notice changes from day one".

Hi-Fi Bar?

  • Dec. 4th, 2009 at 7:30 PM

I've just got tickets to HIM's sideshow gig at the Hi-Fi Bar in the CBD next year when they're here for the Soundwave tour.

Having never been to the Hi-Fi before I don't really know a lot about it, other than some people say it's pretty small, yet intimate with the bands.

Does anybody have any information/experiences about the place or shows they'd like to share? I've read all the generic stuff on their site, but would like to know from a customers point of view. Size? Queue's? Bar? Cloakroom? Friendly staff? What's it all like, good or bad? Any information or experiences at all would be helpful because there's a strong chance I'm going alone as my friend is probably going to Adelaide with her boyfriend that week and would like to brave it alone knowing [mostly] what to expect. And before you ask; I'm 19, so it's legal :)

Sorry if this question has been asked before!

Thanks in advance :)

Also, if anybody's going to be there, lets say hi :D

So next February I have my year 12 formal at Albert Park, and myself and all my friends are trying to plan the night. We're torn between getting a limousine or closed horse and carriages. We're also hoping to get accomodation for... around 10 girls, and at least 2 guys (I'm not sure if that number will increase.) Most of us don't have a lot of money, so we need to keep a small-ish budget, because we've also got to pay for our dresses and alcohol.

So... what accomodation would you recommend? Or are we crazy to hope we can get into a motel somewhere?

Would you reccomend horse and carriage or limousine? Do you know the prices for each? How would we get to our accomodation after midnight if we take the carriage?

We've got some ideas but I'd love to hear how other people might arrange this, or what they'd prefer. Any other suggestions to make the night absolutely awesome would be great.

Oh, what would people reccomend in the way of drinks afterwards for people who haven't gotten drunk at all before and know nothing about alcohol? Where should we get it?

Sorry if I'm bombarding you guys with stuff ^^;

Cheap Combat Boots

  • Dec. 4th, 2009 at 3:36 AM
I'm looking to get my hands on a pair of combat boots. Used to be they were pretty cheap to get, second-hand, but over the last few years the pricing in surplus stores has been obscene. Can anyone recommend a store or market that charges around the $50 range?

Any ideas?

Ok so for my 18th mum wants my party to be during the day. As much as i tried to persuade, she wont change her mind (to quote her 'i dont want teenagers puking in my garden', which is fair enough!) so i agreed, but thing is still want to drink (as i will be of LEGAL age!!! finally!) with my friends after. So heres my question, i need a cool pub/bar to go to, close to Blackburn. Anything and everything is welcome. Not sure about the city....but i'd love some reccomendations =)

Please and thankyou
